What to know ahead of Tuesday’s District 1 City Council runoff election in Tuscaloosa

The City of Tuscaloosa municipal election for the District 1 City Council runoff will be held Tuesday.
Incumbent Matthew Wilson will face Joe Eatmon for the District 1 seat on the Tuscaloosa City Council.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. in Tuscaloosa.
Polling for District 1 will take place at the TDOT Building Auditorium at 1100 28th Avenue.
Residents wishing to vote are encouraged to check their polling location since it may be different from their November 2024 polling location.

Municipal election information, including a district map, can be found at elections.tuscaloosa.com. The website will also have a dashboard that will show voting results Tuesday night.
Before election to the City Council in 02021, Wilson served on the Tuscaloosa City school board, from 2017 to 2021. The Tuscaloosa native graduated from Central High School in 2001, earned a bachelor’s degree in religion and philosophy from Stillman College and graduated with his master of divinity degree from Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Center of Atlanta.

Eatmon is dean of community relations at Shelton State Community College and is working on his doctorate in higher education. He’s coached and taught at Livingston High School, Linden High School, the University of West Alabama and Coastal Alabama in Monroeville.
