How to watch and what to know about Australia’s ‘Golden Globes’

Better Man may have broken the record for most AACTA film nominations ever, but it couldn’t pip George Miller’s post-apocalyptic Mad Max fable.
The Robbie Williams chimp biopic and Furiosa: A Mad Max Story have led the film wins at this week’s Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Industry Gala, taking home five awards each.
This year’s AACTA Awards are split into two ceremonies: Friday’s Award Ceremony and the Industry Gala, which honours the professionals that are often on the other side of the camera.

In the television categories, Netflix drama Boy Swallows Universe dominated, taking home six awards. Tom Gleeson was crowned Australia’s Best Comedy Performer for his work on Hard Quiz, while Spicks and Specks picked up Best Entertainment Program.

When are the 2025 AACTA Awards?
The main AACTA Awards ceremony will take place on Friday, February 7 at Home of the Arts (HOTA) on the Gold Coast.
This will be the third year that the awards will be hosted in the Gold Coast, having being previously held in Sydney.
Who is hosting the 2025 AACTA Awards?
The host for this year’s award ceremony is none other than AACTA president Russell Crowe.
An impressive list of presenters have also been lined up for the awards including Superman star Henry Cavill, who is in the country filming Voltron, Academy Award nominee Guy Pearce, Furiosa director George Miller and Fisk stars Kitty Flanagan and Aaron Chen.

Who is performing?
Still flying high off his chimp biopic, UK superstar Robbie Williams will spin up a tune on the night, with specific confirmation that he’ll be performing his mega-hit ‘Angels’.
Paul Kelly‘s iconic song, ‘How To Make Gravy’, got the silver screen treatment last year (and picked up a couple of AACTA noms to boot), so the local legend will perform the track on the night.
Kelly will also be presented with the inaugural AACTA Award for Outstanding Contribution to recognise the role that his music and scoring has played in Australian film over the past 30 years.
How can I watch the 2025 AACTA Awards?
The 2025 AACTA Awards Ceremony will be broadcast in Australia on Channel Ten at 7.30pm AEDT, Friday, February 7.
A recorded version of the awards will be available from 7:30pm on Saturday, February 8 on BINGE and Foxtel.
