Early Mail: Centre Mawene Hiroti will miss some time with an MCL injury. In some good fortune for Cronulla, Hiroiti’s setback comes as KL Iro is available for selection after recovering from a hamstring injury. It’s been a cruel few years for talented young gun Kade Dykes. The fullback suffered a ruptured patella tendon in NSW Cup last weekend which will end his season. It’s the third straight season-ending knee injury for Dykes, who has been touted a future Sharks fullback.
Eels team: 1. Isaiah Iongi 2. Bailey Simonsson 3. Viliami Penisini 4. Sean Russell 5. Josh Addo-Carr 6. Dylan Brown 7. Mitchell Moses 8. Jack Williams 9. Ryley Smith 10. Junior Paulo 11. Players cut:
Early Mail: Star outside back Zac Lomax is working hard behind the scenes to ready for a return to the field earlier than expected. Lomax has been sidelined with a foot injury which was meant to see him miss six weeks, but the 25-year-old is back training and eyeing off a return within a fortnight according to Code Sports. Lomax is hoping to return to help Parra out of an early slump as well as be in the frame for Origin selection.

Early Mail: Up until half time of last weekend’s clash against Canberra, the Dolphins were the hottest team in the league. On the verge of four straight, they lost their way and conceded 30 second half points to the Raiders. They get a great chance to atone in front of a packed Suncorp Stadium on Friday with three players returning, including star hooker Jeremy Marshall-King and hard-hitting forward Felise Kaufusi. Reserve dummy-half Kurt Donoghoe is also back and he’s been playing some good footy this season.

Lewis Dodd is going to get a crack on the big stage starting in the halves, they paid a lot of money for him and they need to find a way to make it work,” James Hooper said on NRL 360 on Wednesday night. Dodd is expected to play halfback with Jayden Sullivan to shift to five-eighth. Dodd gets Wighton, Latrell Mitchell (suspension), Jamie Humphreys (hamstring) and Cody Walker (calf) all sidelined.
